Production Shift Lead

Role Summary

The job incumbent plans, manages and coordinates all production activities within a shift and ensures that the overall production performance is in alignment with the companys standards and goals. Supervises all employees in the area of responsibility and actively participates in the production process and activities.

Main Tasks

  • Manage and control the day-to-day activities for an assigned shift within a production plant
  • Lead, direct and coordinate a team of employees within the area of responsibility (but not disciplinary)
  • Manage and control if the production activities are in line with the production plan and deadlines
  • Ensure that the product quality is in compliance with the technical and quality standards as well as the customer requirements 
  • Support the RPS/8D Process in collaboration with the Production Manager and the Production Supervisor to ensure that the quality standards are met, participate in the RPS discussions/meetings
  • Ensure the quality approval of the products by the Quality Inspectors/Supervisors and implement corrective actions in case of deviations, control if the corrective measures are effectively applied
  • Implement, coordinate and control the accuracy, cleanliness and the order of the production area/activities
  • Ensure that the machines and technical equipment are properly used and maintained
  • Manage/execute the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Process, control for loss and/or damages of the machines and equipment, ensure the repair/maintenance service 
  • Ensure that the machine capacities are optimally planned and used as well as  the technical reliability of the machines, equipment and tools 
  • Coordinate and control the set-up processes in accordance with the pre-defined schedule
  • Provide, manage and update all documentation as regards the production activities and facilities 
  • Manage the plant and machine safety, ensure that all safety requirements, sustainability issues and legal regulations are fulfilled
  • Ensure and maintain of all records as per ISO / TS / EMS Standards

Your Profile

  • High School Diploma / GED; bachelor’s degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 year of experience supervising a large staff, including responsibility for hiring, counseling, training, terminating and performance appraisals preferred
  • 3 years manufacturing, distribution and material management experience required
  • Interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills necessary to work in a cooperative, positive team approach
  • Customer and supplier orientation, organization and coordination skills
  • Ability to lead, train and mentor employees on a personal & professional level
  • Experience or knowledge of raw materials planning/production scheduling process
  • Manufacturing and/ or logistics industry experience required
  • Must have 5 S skills (keep work area safe and clean)
  • Must work safely and identify all safety issues using the STOP, CALL, WAIT system until repairs are made
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondences
  • Lean Manufacturing experience desired
  • Must be able to interact well with others, work independently or in a team setting in a high volume environment
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), experience working in ERP systems/ Sage experience a plus
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task with self-initiative and the ability to work under pressure
  • Forklift experience or certification preferred
  • Self-driven, attention to detail, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on deliverables
  • Must be able to work productively individually or with a team
  • Must be able to read, understand and comply with written and verbal instructions, company processes and procedures and safety policies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; active listening skills with all levels of employees
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
