Role Summary
Location: Portage, Michigan
As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and integrating cutting-edge systems that seamlessly blend mechanical, electronic, and control components, driving innovation and efficiency with MANN+HUMMEL.
Main Tasks
- Collaborate on R&D/Engineering projects with global EE-Expert team, suppliers and customers
- Define requirements and standards for mechatronic systems and components
- Integrate mechanical, electronic, and control systems for optimal performance into our products
- Design control algorithms, PID controllers, and automation scripts
- Select, integrate, and calibrate sensors and actuators for data acquisition and control
- Develop and implement PCB designs for mechatronic applications
- Define testing and validation requirements to confirm functionality and safety
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in collaboration with the engineering team
- Create detailed technical documentation including system specifications and schematics
- Provide regular progress reports and updates on project milestones
- Plan, define, and execute testing activities in simulation and validation
- Support in the creation and analysis of Design Of Experiments (DOE)
- Participate in project management activities related to mechatronic components
Your Profile
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Required Skills:
- 8 years of relevant work experience
- Effective communication and presentation abilities
- Experience in requirements engineering, FMEA, production processes, test planning, and technical standards for automotive electronics
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles and ability to design and analyze mechanical components and systems
- Proficiency in working with electronic circuits, sensors, actuators, and power systems
- Knowledge of control theory and experience in designing control systems for mechatronic applications
- Familiarity with automation technologies and PLC programming
- Experience in selecting, integrating, and calibrating various sensors for mechatronic applications
- Knowledge in flow dynamics, static and dynamic resistance, vibration technology, connection technology, measurements, materials
- Engineering-relevant IT tools (PLM, CAD, c-Project, SAP etc.)
- Hands on experience with MS-Office skills, SAP, Project Management tools, PDM system
