Internship Expectation

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Location: This internship is based in-person at our Portage, Michigan facility.
Start: ASAP

Duration: 12-month minimum requirement (Internships can extend up to 24 months)
Hours per week: 
    - During School - 15 to 20 hours a week
    - During Breaks - 20 to 40 hours a week (note - this includes winter, spring and summer breaks)

Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern offers you the opportunity to gain exposure and hands-on experience working at MANN+HUMMEL. This position will provide challenging projects, networking opportunities, and a chance to learn from experienced engineering professionals

Main Responsibilities

- Undertakes and successfully completes simple or basic project/product development tasks to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, and validating equipment and processes

- May assist in inventing/creating concepts and designs/approaches for new products/processes/test methods
- Designs, procures and fabricates simple tooling and fixtures
- Designs and coordinates engineering tests and experiments
- Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results
- Completes basic tasks on engineering documentation
- Train technicians/operators on new processes and/or test procedures
- Identifies areas for improvement, suggests solutions, and submits idea records

Educational Requirements

- Actively pursuing Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Management Engineering or a relative field
- Current GPA 3.0 or better

Experience

- Prior work experience in a manufacturing company is preferred

Skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel. Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc)- Ability to read and evaluate part prints
- Ability to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment
- Strong organization, coordination, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a collaborative team and office setting
