Role Summary
The Machine Operator sets up, maintains and operates the production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines to ensure quality and efficiency are met.
Main Tasks
- Sets up machines with the proper supplies to start the production cycle at the beginning of shift
- Ensures raw materials are fed into the machine accurately to prevent issues
- Performs functions of machine to include loading media, wires, cutting and boxing products
- Keeps records of production quantities and times
- Ensures safety, quality and manufacturing goals are met
- Ensures plant floor is clean and organized for a safe working environment
- Monitors machinery to ensure equipment is running smoothly, appropriately and efficiently and notifies leadership when issues occur
- Maintains standard production rates, low waste and meet customer requirements
- Performs routine inspections of equipment and quality checks
- Checks output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws and ensures highest quality
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent education and training
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred
- Understanding of basic principles of filter manufacturing and operating equipment
- Must possess strong attention to detail
- Ability in using tools (e.g. clamps) and machines (e.g. presses)
- Ability to use levels and tape measures to ensure accurate measurement of items being assembled
- Good understanding of quality control principles
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Understanding of basic math and the use of a calculator for accuracy of product counts; ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, use decimals and percentages
- Effective communication, include speaking, writing, active listening skills with the ability to communicate
- Self-initiative and ability to work under pressure
- Able to work individually or in a team environment
- Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and identify issues
- Must work safely and identify all safety issues using the STOP, CALL, WAIT system until repairs are made
- Must be able to read, understand and comply with written and verbal instructions, company processes and procedures and safety policies
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
