Job Title: Materials Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Manager
Location: Hanover Park, IL
Pay Range: $90,000 – $110,000 annually

Overview
The MP&L Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all logistics, inventory management, material flow, and production planning functions within the Hanover Park manufacturing facility. This role ensures optimal material availability, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery to support customer and production demands. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong Lean manufacturing experience, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Main Tasks
- Lead and oversee all MP&L operations, including material planning, procurement, inventory control, shipping, and receiving.
- Ensure adherence to all safety standards, especially within logistics areas using powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment.
- Manage logistics and transportation activities, including carrier relations, TMS (Transportation Management System) support, and freight cost control.
- Lead and support material handling and process improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Partner with Sales, Operations, and Inventory teams to optimize inventory levels and support production schedules.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of PFEP (Plan for Every Part), replenishment systems, and standardized material flow strategies.
- Measure and drive performance on key metrics such as inventory turns, fill rate, material variance, and on-time delivery.
- Study and standardize departmental procedures to enhance workflow efficiency and accuracy.
- Supervise and mentor supervisors and team members across the MP&L, inventory, shipping, and receiving departments.
- Partner closely with Production and other departments to ensure material coordination and inventory alignment.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations, provide ongoing coaching, and lead team development.
- Manage non-conforming materials, ensuring appropriate containment, corrective actions, and supplier communication.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, customer requirements, and environmental and safety standards.
- Ensure all logistics and planning projects meet scope, cost, and schedule expectations.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in manufacturing and distribution (required).
- 5 years in logistics and/or materials management (preferred).
- At least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Work performed in both office and manufacturing environments; frequent exposure to forklifts and moving mechanical equipment.
- Noise levels can be moderate to loud; temperature ranges between 45°F and 95°F.
