Role Summary

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Goleta, CA
Job Type: Full-Time #LI-Onsite
Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000 per year (based on experience)

 

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in supporting both Engineering and Operations in achieving daily production and quality goals. This position is responsible for driving process improvement, ensuring manufacturability of products, and leading initiatives related to tooling, automation, and lean manufacturing. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Quality, Operations, Planning, Engineering, and R&D teams.

Main Tasks

  • Provide engineering support to production teams for existing and new products.
  • Serve as the primary resource for creating and maintaining 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings.
  • Design and implement manufacturing fixtures, jigs, and automation systems to improve safety, throughput, and cost.
  • Lead root cause investigations and failure analysis for product or process issues.
  • Create, update, and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and process standards.
  • Support automation and process optimization initiatives in collaboration with CI and automation teams.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) and launch readiness activities.
  • Analyze and optimize product routings and process flows to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Partner with Quality to enhance inspection standards, define critical quality characteristics, and support non-conformance resolution.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Train and mentor shop floor personnel and junior engineers in manufacturing processes and standards.
  • Deliver technical presentations and updates to cross-functional teams and leadership as needed.
  • Ensure high levels of organization, attention to detail, and project follow-through.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Your Profile

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline) 
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role 
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred

Skills

  • Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong working knowledge of 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD and Inventor)
  • Familiarity with core manufacturing tools, including:
    • PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
    • Control Plans
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone)
    • SPC (Statistical Process Control)
    • 8D Problem Solving
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation systems, including sensors, actuators, and machine safety components is preferred
  • Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) for troubleshooting or small-scale logic changes is a plus
  • Understanding of ladder logic and control system integration is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to convey technical concepts clearly
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; detail-oriented with solid follow-through
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and work in team-based environments
