Role Summary

The Advanced Maintenance Technician is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our manufacturing equipment and facilities. This position demands a high level of technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems. The technician will lead complex installations, troubleshoot advanced system issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Main Tasks

1. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Execute scheduled PMs on critical equipment (e.g., hydraulic presses, filtration units, chillers, compressors).
  • Perform condition-based monitoring (vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil sampling).
  • Inspect and service rotating equipment, motor bearings, belts, and lubricants.
  • Use CMMS (SAP, eMaint, or equivalent) to document and close maintenance work orders.

2. Equipment Troubleshooting and Repairs

  • Diagnose and repair issues in PLC-controlled machinery (Allen Bradley & Siemens preferred).
  • Troubleshoot motor drives, servos, relays, sensors, and pneumatic control systems.
  • Perform mechanical adjustments on conveyors, gearboxes, and precision tooling.
  • Respond to downtime calls across production lines and perform root cause analysis.

3. Installation and Commissioning

  • Assist in the mechanical and electrical installation of new equipment.
  • Align motors, calibrate encoders/sensors, and validate movement programs.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and OEMs during new equipment commissioning.

4. Utilities and Building Systems

  • Inspect and maintain HVAC, RO/DI water systems, chilled water loops, and compressed air systems.
  • Check system pressures, fluid levels, and control panel operation for critical support infrastructure.
  • Perform minor facility repairs (lighting, plumbing, safety barriers, etc.).

5. Safety and Compliance

  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, and confined space procedures.
  • Conduct hazard assessments before starting work and ensure all safety guards are reinstated.
  • Support facility safety audits and provide input for corrective actions.

6. Technical Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and observations noted.
  • Update schematics and documentation after modifications or upgrades.
  • Support the documentation of procedures and SOPs for standard maintenance activities.

7. Inventory and Spare Parts

  • Track and log spare parts used; assist in restocking via approved procurement workflows.
  • Identify critical spare shortages and escalate for purchase.
  • Maintain a clean and organized tool crib and spare part area.

8. Team Communication & Support

  • Participate in daily tier meetings with Production and Engineering teams.
  • Escalate equipment concerns that impact production timelines or product quality.
  • Assist in training entry-level technicians or apprentices in key procedures.

Your Profile

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in industrial maintenance, with a focus on advanced mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Certifications: Certifications in areas such as PLC programming, HVAC, or electrical systems are advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Certifications: Certifications from recognized bodies (e.g., NIMS, ISA) in maintenance or automation.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Continuous Improvement: Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and at heights as necessary with appropriate PPE.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
