Role Summary
The Product Engineer is responsible for completing product engineering activities for new or modified products, ensuring they meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role involves coordinating product design, development, testing, and validation while supporting manufacturing and customer requirements.
Your Responsibilities
- Product Development: Lead product engineering activities for new or modified products, ensuring designs meet fit, form, and function specifications according to customer needs.
- Advanced Product Quality Planning: Coordinate APQP activities related to R&D to ensure product quality and compliance.
- Design & Prototyping: Initiate drawings, prototype builds, and material and performance testing to meet customer filter design requirements.
- Testing & Analysis: Interpret results from dimensional analysis, material, and filter testing to make recommendations for product launches and modifications.
- Design Support: Provide design support to Sales, Product Management, and other stakeholders for OEM, private label, and internal customers.
- Customer & Supplier Interaction: Engage with customers and suppliers to review product designs, test results, cost savings, part costs, and address any concerns.
- Issue Resolution: Provide timely and accurate responses to manufacturing inquiries and customer complaints.
- Performance Assurance: Ensure that filters function according to intended application and performance needs.
- Documentation Management: Review and file records such as external documents, project plans, and project files in accordance with MANN+HUMMEL systems.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Skills Requirements
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles and their practical application.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet project timing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of filter manufacturing processes.
- Experience in program/project management.
- Proficient in 3D solid modeling software (Pro-E or SolidWorks preferred).
- Experience using SAP.
