Role Summary

This is an on-site position based at our Allen Plant in Gastonia, NC.

 

The Process Engineer is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and improving processes in a fast-paced production floor centered environment.

Main Tasks

− Manage assigned engineering projects including tracking costs, assessing resources, and achieving deadline requirements
− Generate cost estimates for manufacturing specific prototype and production related tooling and equipment
− Conceptualize and/or design future manufacturing layouts and research options for process flow, product assembly, and equipment purchase
− Analyze new design proposals and makes recommendations regarding manufacturability and compatibility with current manufacturing operations and new product introductions
− Provide input to design and quality regarding product tolerances and special or critical characteristics and process parameters
− Prepare equipment or tooling specifications for new or revised machines and fixtures
− Development of process flow, process FMEA, PPAP, Change Management, and floor layouts
-  Perform time studies, line balancing and capability studies utilizing Lean Techniques. 70% of the time dedicated at shopfloor production environment, and 30% within an office environment
− Responsible for the production of prototype products either on-site or through a vendor
− Recommend preventative maintenance parameters and instructions
− Responsible for the acceptance and approval of manufacturing specific tooling and equipment
− Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Your Profile

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
Experience:
- 2 -3 years’ minimum experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Process Engineer in a fast-paced manufacturing environment developing and improving manufacturing processes
- Previous high-level of interaction and accountability working with manufacturing supervisors and managers
- Experience with cost justifications and capital expenditure projects
Required Skills:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Proven troubleshooting and process-solving skills
- Strong critical thinking skills and innovative mindset
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD (SolidWorks/Autocad)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills focusing on detail-oriented record keeping
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Automation, vision and/or robotic programming experience
- Automotive industry manufacturing experience
- Filtration industry manufacturing experience
