Role Summary
Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Gastonia, NC

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for driving process improvements, supporting new product introductions, and ensuring manufacturing operations run efficiently and cost-effectively. This role includes managing engineering projects, designing and implementing process layouts, and providing technical expertise to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
Main Tasks

Manage assigned engineering projects including cost tracking, resource allocation, and meeting deadlines.

Generate cost estimates for prototype and production tooling and equipment.

Conceptualize and design future manufacturing layouts, process flows, product assembly, and equipment purchases.

Analyze new design proposals and recommend solutions for manufacturability and compatibility with current operations.

Interpret and apply specifications related to fit, form, function, and environmental requirements.

Provide input to design and quality teams on product tolerances, critical characteristics, and process parameters.

Prepare equipment and tooling specifications for new or revised machines and fixtures.

Develop process flows, FMEA, PPAP documentation, change management procedures, and floor layouts.

Conduct time studies, line balancing, and capability studies utilizing Lean techniques.

Support prototype product builds, either on-site or through vendors.

Recommend preventive maintenance schedules, process parameters, and work instructions for new equipment.

Approve and accept manufacturing-specific tooling and equipment.

Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned.
Your Profile
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.

3–5 years of experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with manufacturing processes, cost justifications, and CAPEX projects.
-
Previous accountability and collaboration with manufacturing supervisors, managers, and floor associates.

70% shop floor / 30% office environment.
Skills

Strong troubleshooting, process-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).

Excellent verbal and written communication with strong attention to detail.

Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, process parameters, visual work instructions, and scrap reduction methodology.

Automation, vision systems, and/or robotic programming experience a plus.
Preferred Experience

Automotive manufacturing experience.

Filtration manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Program management skills for supporting new product launches.
