Laboratory Technician

Shift: Monday–Friday, Days #LI-Onsite
Role Summary
Engineering Technologists and Technicians support engineers in the design, modification, and improvement of products and processes.
Main Tasks

Plan, organize, and perform test activities in the laboratories according to test procedures, drawings, diagrams, engineering documents, and specifications as requested by test engineers.

Prepare the working area for the necessary tests, set up the testing equipment, and ensure that the performed activities follow the defined procedures.

Set up test fixtures as required by test protocol, including fixture fabrication if necessary.

Organize and set up tracking methodology to ensure that samples can be identified afterwards.

Perform preventative maintenance and calibration on all assigned laboratory equipment within technical capability.

Maintain test records, prepare relevant test documentation and reports on performed activities, and ensure that necessary information is available and up to date.

Effectively communicate the status and results of tests to responsible test engineers and other engineering group members.

Maintain testing equipment and organize and store test fixtures to ensure the cleanliness and security of the lab.

Adhere to all management policies, procedures, work instructions, and safety rules, including safe handling of all chemicals and fluids in accordance with MSDS.

Perform “hands-on” work with various types of air, oil, fuel, and hydraulic filters.

Work closely with team members to maintain and improve lab equipment.

Work with hand tools, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis and move 100 lb. objects.

Work on other projects/areas as needed.
Your Profile
Education:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate Degree minimum preferred)
Experience:
-
Minimum 1 year of experience working in an industrial or laboratory environment
Required / Preferred Skills:
-
Knowledge of test methods and techniques, test setup, tools and equipment, materials, and products, as well as the ability to analyze and evaluate test results.

Ability to work in teams and demonstrate good communication skills.

Able to take direction and training from experienced lab personnel; must be able to work under minimal supervision once trained. Learn lab databases (PVS, PLCM, etc.).

Understand norms and specifications; strong mechanical aptitude.

Familiar with ASTM, ISO, and customer specifications (familiarity with filtration products a plus).

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Must be able to work with basic tools.

Associate degree in industrial technology or related discipline (Engineering or Business).
