Role Summary
This is an On-Site position based at our location in Gastonia, NC.
The Commodity Buyer is the purchasing specialist for the Filter Elements material group. This person manages all tactical sourcing activities with suppliers within their area of responsibility.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Executes Material Group Manager (MGM) strategies and initiatives and applies defined supplier panels in alignment with RMGM (Regional Material Group Manager)
- Supports RMGM and reports regarding negotiations, supplier selection in projects, supplier panel optimization, ratio projects, material price development, supplier development, initiated sourcing decisions, PFE’s, CIC, Drawings, etc.
- Supports planning and forecasting in agreement with RMGM and/or MGM
- Manages RFQs and price estimations in customer or market projects and in serial production for his/her commodity within the Hub and for prototypes if prototype supplier will be serial supplier
- Conducts RFQs also for defined global projects (across Hubs) in alignment with the RMGM
- Initiates and manages re-sourcing, dual sourcing and continuous improvement activities and supports cost savings initiatives, e.g.: “BCC” or VA/
- Actively supports and acts in close collaboration with Project Purchasing by providing “in-time” price- and other project relevant information, e.g., sourcing status, supplier feedback regarding timing and specifications
- Negotiations & agreements about purchase price and supplier commercial contracts including sourcing decision preparation and contract manageme
- Organizes Technical Reviews in close collaboration with ASQ and R&D
- Initiates target price / cost analysis calculation (pre- and post SOP)
- Overall responsibility for internal releases and changes of supplied material / parts / tools in projects and in serial production
- Manages escalation issues in alignment with RMGM
- Invoice analysis and applicable corrections
- Maintains commercial material / supplier relevant data in SAP and eCONN
- Supports supplier quality assurance, complaint management and "top focus" supplier meetings in cooperation with ASQ, SQE and SQD
- Interface Management to local Supply Chain
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field - OR - an Associate degree
Experience:
• At least 2 years of relevant purchasing or supply chain experience in an international business environment
• One year experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
Required Skills:
• Analytical skills
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Proficiency with Microsoft office tools (Excel)
• Must have experience with SAP
• Ability to travel both Domestic / International up to 15%
Preferred Experience:
• Automotive industry experience
• Power BI experience
• Knowledge of Purchase Finished Goods would be a plus
