The incumbent takes over the role as the Project Controller USA Project Controller is responsible within the product development and market strategy process, for the overall completion of business cases – profitability and financial viability of new initiatives, pricing reviews, make vs buy and other analysis to achieve the best profitability and cash contribution on the assigned projects, from start till end of the project. By performing the necessary tasks and following the relevant guidelines for Aftermarket channels IAM and OES, using defined formats, processes and tools (PER & Facton), he/she ensures that the project profitability is improved to reach at least the global and other commercial company targets and that the project financial status is plausible, transparent and available at any time.

  • Responsible for the financial overview of business cases/projects, completing the necessary steps from evaluating the sourcing, current pricing vs market and achieving the financial targets and the best project profitability by performing the below tasks through guidance and coaching of the regional and local team during the review, quote, development and the manufacturing/sourcing and final implementation phase.
  • Responsibility for the coordination of the product calculation process and establishing the financial status and the GM%, EBIT% and efficiency calculation (PER) of a project for each required sales channel where required, from start of the project till end of the project, by using the standard templates ( Business cases standard files, Facton).
  • Perform the target costing and revisions to std costing and simulations due to new sourcing or tariffs impact during the quotation phase and after implementation
  • Define bottom line prices during the quotation phase considering M+H overall target result with focus on project GMS%, EBIT%, cash contribution, internal rate of return IRR and any other financial KPI +
  • Ensure that all projects are in line with product costing guidelines and investment guidelines.
  • Responsible to check the standard cost calculation for completeness and plausibility and verify the plausibility and necessity of project budgets and investments.
  • Participate in all project meetings and any other meetings and workshops
  • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring receiving required approvals in time (focus on customer quote due dates) by using the approval guideline.
  • Plan, coordinate and perform all project related activities in accordance with the MANN+HUMMEL development process to ensure the achievement according to the timing and commercial targets
  • Always documenting in sharepoint status of all analysis and business cases, with supporting documentation and if using other tools as Facton to be responsible of transferring the required data from Facton to BW in time, along with other Business Case templates key indicators and response rate along with key indicators.
  • Responsibility for coordination together with project team to propose the best production location based on the project profitability result taking into consideration the global market volume/demand, existing production capacity, best investment and landed cost scenarios.
    Ensuring that material data is considered correctly and that transportation and packing costs are considered
  • Ensuring the capitalization of the R&D budget according to the guidelines for each site and also considering any licenses or any other SGA to be included
  • Support sales in the process of market price determination for the products.
  • Support of Sales department at price argumentation in negotiations with our customers.
  • Support Project Manager in reporting on the financial project status (to project team, steering committee, customer meetings, senior management).  production process is respect to labor, cycle time and investment.
  • Support the PM and Lead Designer for tracking and analyzing the project budget

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University degree (BA or MA level) or equivalent education in the field of Engineering or Business Administration
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in the automotive / automotive supplier industry and project environment
  • Experience in product controlling, costing / calculations and product development processes
  • Good knowledge in commercial, methodological and analytical skills
  • Target and result oriented
