Role Summary

As a Customer Quality Engineer at MANN+HUMMEL Dunlap, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the satisfaction of our customers by maintaining the highest standards of product quality and reliability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address customer concerns, implement quality improvement initiatives, and drive continuous enhancement of our products and processes.

Main Tasks

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality-related matters.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their quality requirements and expectations.
  • Actively engage in customer meetings, conferences, and other forums to address concerns and provide updates on quality-related initiatives.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans and processes to ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor adherence to quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, root causes of issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Investigate customer complaints and non-conformances to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to address quality issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence of quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains through the application of quality tools and methodologies.
  • Champion a culture of quality excellence throughout the organization by providing training, coaching, and support to team members.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality-related activities, including customer complaints, corrective actions, and quality performance metrics.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on quality performance to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to quality documentation and reporting.

Your Profile

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

 

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in a quality engineering or customer-facing role within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and APQP methodologies.
  • Proficiency in quality tools and techniques such as root cause analysis, statistical process control, and failure mode and effects analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate with customers at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze complex data sets and draw actionable insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Additional qualifications in Quality Management or Quality Engineering.
  • Experience with customer quality requirements specific to the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Previous experience in leading or facilitating continuous improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to automotive quality assurance.
