Quality Inspector - Outbound (2nd Shift)

Role Summary

This is an on-site, 2nd Shift position based at our location in Cowpens, SC. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform inspection of outbound goods per inspection plans 
  • Determine pass/fail result of inspections to published requirements 
  • Inspect for correct and accurate contents label, shipping label, packing slip 
  • Inspect for correct material, quantity, stacking pattern, outer wrapping, structural support items and proper pallet type 
  • Check condition of material packaging and pallet for damage 
  • Compare results of inspections to Bill of Laden, Delivery Note documents, and ASN
  • Restack pallets, wrap and prepare inspected material for shipment 
  • Document results of inspections in Excel workbooks 
  • Communicate inspection results with supervisor, Main Office quality team in Gastonia and warehouse personnel 
  • Issue non-conforming material reports 
  • Confirm effectiveness of reworked non-conforming material 
  • Assure M+H quality procedures and processes are followed 
  • Communicate and interface with warehouse logistics personnel 
  • Provide feedback and improvement ideas for inspection plans and frequency 
  • Follow all safety guidelines and instructions 
  • Has the authority and the responsibility to stop any process or product delivery in case of a non-conformance of customer expectations, safety or environmental risks, etc. 
  • Support inbound inspectors for sorting and identification of materials as needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Education: 

  • High School Diploma, or GED

Experience:

  • 2 years' minimum experience in quality, or related technical role in manufacturing, or large warehouse/distribution environment 
  • 2 years' experience with shipping/receiving processes

Required Skills:

  • Proven ability to investigate and resolve quality related issues 
  • Experience following inspection plans for characteristics shown on Engineering drawings 
  • Knowledge and proficient use of inspection devices 
  • Proven ability to work well with on site and remote individuals 
  • Able to lift products weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Preferred Skills:

  • SAP or similar ERP experience
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint especially)
  • Familiar with quality tools: Problem Solving/8D Method, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA
