Role Summary
General Maintenance Engineering focuses on planning, designing and implementing maintenance programs to optimize the availability and productivity of manufacturing facilities and equipment. In addition,
- To support and improve manufacturing equipment and processes, through the efficient application of corrective/preventative maintenance and general engineering support
- To work in line with Health & Safety legislation, industry guidelines and company policy, to ensure a safe working environment
- Work with minimal supervision as part of a small team and to communicate effectively with your work colleagues.
Main Tasks
- To work safely and promote good Health & Safety practices within the company.
- To diagnose faults and initiate corrective action to rectify breakdowns and equipment problems.
- Keep stock of spare parts at set level and re-order as necessary.
- Undertake TPM tasks to keep OEE to a maximum.
- To specify, order and install equipment in line with company requirements and budget constraints.
- Keep accurate records where necessary in line with departmental objectives and requirements.
- To follow instructions given by Production Engineering Manager and other Managers as and when required in line with company objectives.
- To ensure work is of a high standard and quality.
- To take an active role in implementing Health & Safety and environmental policies.
- Undertake projects to improve machinery and equipment for better performance and quality.
- To take responsibility and show initiative in product quality.

Minimum Educational Requirement
Master Degree
Apprenticeship in Engineering or Related fields
Experience
Essential attainments
- Must be a time served/qualified electrician with experience
- Must have mechanical ability but bias toward electrical discipline
- Minimum ONC or City & Guilds electrical engineering
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read technical/engineering drawings
- Numerate and literate – high standard
- Logical thinker/problem solver
- Computer literate – Microsoft office software
Desirable attainments
- Electro-mechanical apprenticeship
- Driving licence
- Experience in automotive manufacturing environment
- Experience in PLC programming
- Experience in pneumatics/hydraulics
- Knowledge/experience of database systems/document management
