Role Summary

As Local Procurement Manager (LPM), you are the central point of contact for 2 european sites for all commercial and supplier-related topics, including escalations. You ensure effective procurement support for the site—particularly Supply Chain Management—and drive alignment with regional and global procurement functions.
 
Building on this role, you will progressively take on responsibility as Project Manager Purchasing (PMP), acting as the “one voice” of Purchasing in cross-functional projects and ensuring the achievement of targets in terms of cost, quality, and timing.

The role is located in our new office in Bochum. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Acting as the main procurement contact for the site on all commercial and supplier-related matters, including escalation management
  • Supporting the site, especially Supply Chain Management, in all operational procurement processes and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
  • Managing interfaces between the site and regional as well as global procurement functions
  • Ensuring the involvement of relevant procurement stakeholders (e.g., Strategic Purchasing, Corporate Procurement, MGM, other LPMs)
  • Coordinating sourcing activities and purchasing processes within cross-functional project teams (e.g., product, market, development, and ratio projects)
  • Acting as the purchasing representative (“one voice to the project team”) and supporting project teams in all procurement-related topics
  • Contributing to the achievement of project targets in terms of material cost, quality, and timing
  • Ensuring transparency and proper tracking of all relevant data and milestones in applicable systems and tools
  • Driving cross-functional collaboration, especially with Project Management, Product Management, and R&D
  • Preparing and maintaining all required project-related documentation

Your Profile

  • Education: You have completed studies in Business Administration, Business Engineering, or a comparable field (a university degree is advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in Procurement within an international environment, ideally in industrial or manufacturing companies.
  • Expertise:
    • Strong background in operational procurement and supplier management
    • Solid understanding of commercial topics and procurement processes
    • Initial experience in project-related procurement or cross-functional collaboration is advantageous
    • Structured and analytical way of working
    • Experience in managing supplier-related challenges and escalations
    • Good knowledge of MS Office and SAP (including SAP BW)
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English (written and spoken) and German (minimum C1 level) is required.
  • Personality: 
    • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions and hierarchy levels
    • Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset with a high level of ownership
    • Assertiveness combined with strong conflict management capabilities
    • Team-oriented approach with the ability to act as a central interface
    • Motivation to grow into a project-oriented procurement role
