Senior Engineer - Database Operations

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior MSSQL Database Administrator with 3 – 5 years of experience to manage, maintain, and optimize our Microsoft SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MSSQL administration, performance tuning, and high availability solutions. Experience with Oracle databases is a strong advantage and will be considered favorably.

Main Tasks

  • Administer, maintain, and support MSSQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments.
  • Perform database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using native tools and third-party solutions.
  • Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Monitor database health and proactively address issues related to performance, storage, and connectivity.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support deployments and troubleshoot issues.
  • Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Always On, Log Shipping, Replication).
  • Participate in database upgrades, patching, and migrations.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide on-call support and participate in rotational shifts as required.
  • Maintain documentation related to database configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participate in Change management processes and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Support automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
  • Management and support of Atlassian JIRA and Confluence as an administrator
  • Working Knowledge about O365
  • Providing guidance and support for the application handled and maintained by AOC

 

Your Profile

  • Taking ownership for Incident tickets and resolve within SLA
  • Being the primary point of contact for all the Database incidents
  • Knowledge of ITIL disciplines such as Incident, Problem and Change Management

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience as a MSSQL DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Experience with SQL Server versions 2016 and above.
  • Expertise in backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Profiler).
  • Experience in managing large-scale databases and mission-critical applications.
  • Experience in migrating MSSQL databases from on-premises environments to various cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Working knowledge of Oracle database administration (11g/12c/19c).
  • Experience with Oracle tools such as RMAN, Data Pump, and OEM.
  • Exposure to cloud-based database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
  • Knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation.
