Role Summary
The Senior Engineer Application Operations with 5 to 8 years’ experience plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of enterprise applications and databases within MANN+HUMMEL’s IT landscape. This position involves managing application lifecycles, leading incident resolution, and optimizing application and database environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in application operations, strong database administration skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. The engineer will also be accountable for implementing robust database security practices and supporting compliance requirements. Flexibility to work in US business hours is essential to support global operations and ensure timely collaboration with cross-regional teams.
Main Tasks
• Manage day-to-day operations of enterprise applications including monitoring, incident
resolution, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and business teams to ensure seamless application
delivery and support.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for recurring issues.
• Lead application deployments, upgrades, and patching activities.
• Maintain and optimize database environments (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Ensure database security through access control, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability
management.
• Implement and monitor backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and
availability wherever necessary.
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives within application operations.
• Maintain documentation related to application configurations, operational procedures,
and troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in Change management processes and ensure compliance with
organizational standards.
• Support automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual
interventions.
• Good to have Management and support of Atlassian JIRA and Confluence as an
administrator
• Working Knowledge about O365
Key Performance Indicators/Key Result Areas
- Taking ownership for Incident tickets and resolve within SLA
- Knowledge of ITIL disciplines such as Incident, Problem and Change Management
Skills
Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in application operations or support roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with enterprise databases (SQL Server, Oracle,
PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Experience in database security practices including role-based access, encryption,
and compliance.
• Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar) for automation and
monitoring.
• Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira) and monitoring platforms (Icinga,
Splunk, etc.).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and container technologies is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Flexibility to work in US business hours (EST)
