As a Materials Engineer with MANN+HUMMEL, you will define and implement technical standards for various raw materials, manage in-house knowledge transfer, support innovation projects, and ensure material performance aligns with our high standards and customer requirements.
Main Tasks
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement technical standards for specific raw material groups, ensuring alignment with new applications, designs, and testing methods.
- Represent MANN+HUMMEL's raw material competence at external and internal events, including fairs, tech shows, and exhibitions.
- Approve materials and exercise a “veto right” for material technical releases.
- Drive and execute patent strategies, evaluate invention disclosures, and maintain updated information on patents within the company and competitors.
- Manage in-house knowledge and knowledge transfer related to materials, including updating the engineering handbook in collaboration with design and engineering experts.
- Ensure global access to technical documentation for employees.
- Establish and maintain networks with universities and research institutions.
- Develop and maintain technical procedures and instructions.
- Support manufacturing plants, quality departments, and purchasing in material-related topics.
- Participate in negotiations regarding product specifications and support the presentation of developed products to customers and suppliers.
- Prepare standard and customer-specific presentations.
- Participate in technical project reviews and derive lessons learned for the engineering handbook.
- Contribute technical knowledge for product development in coordination with Product Management and Advanced Development departments.
- Support the development and implementation of innovation projects.
Your Profile
Education and Experience
- University degree in chemistry, material science, materials engineering, or a comparable field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in raw material and part manufacturing.
- Experience with performance and durability requirements of materials.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering and office IT tools.
